Have you ever seen a certain light blinking on your car’s meter but you are clueless about what it indicates? More than 50% would say yes to this question due to lack of awareness. 

This is a bad thing as it can cause a lot of problems for you as driving is not just about push starting a vehicle, putting it in drive mode, and going on your way. 

Being aware of all the warning lights in the car and their meanings will not only keep you safe but others around you as well. 

Here is the light of warning lights in the car and what they mean; 

  • Steering Lock                                                                                                      

This turns on whenever someone tries to turn the wheels of your car while the key is not in ignition. It prevents your car from getting stolen so the next time you see it on, know that someone tried to boost your ride. 

  • The Battery Light                                                                                               

This one warns you about any issue in your battery related to charging, the wiring in your car, voltage regulator, and alternator. Keep in mind that it is normal to see it while starting your car but alarming when it comes on otherwise. 

  • Windshield Washer Fluid                                                                                 

If this light comes on then it means you need to get to the nearest auto shop and get a windshield washer fluid. It is okay to delay the refill as you can always use an old-fashioned cleaning method with a simple cloth. 

  • Adaptive Headlight System                                                                              

The headlights in your car have a system that enables them to turn in whichever direction the car is going. If this light is on then know that it is not working anymore so you need visit an electrician soon. 

  • Airbag & Seatbelt System                                                                                 

This light infers that the safety system of your vehicle is no longer working efficiently so get it checked right away to avoid any injuries in case of an accident. 

  • Tire Pressure Monitoring                                                                                   

This means that you need to get some pressurized air in your tires to avoid get flat ones. This is usually seen in the winters as the air contracts and the pressure decreases. 

  • Engine Oil Level                                                                                                     

If you see this on then it is time to get an oil change or the oil could be leaking from your car. Don’t take any risks and get it done at the earliest. 

  • Emissions Control                                                                                                 

This light indicates several issues with your car such as a bad oxygen sensor, loose gas gap, or a bad engine compression. This is the most alarming light that can cause your car to break down at a bad time so get it check first thing in the morning. 

  • Electronic Stability                                                                                               

When this light comes on, it indicates that your car is no longer stable and can skid off the tracks without proper handling. Carefully taking to a mechanic is recommended after you turn on the traction control. 

  • Bulb Monitoring                                                                                                   

This light means you have a faulty headlight that needs to be changed immediately. 

  • Brake Lights                                                                                                           

This one indicates a bad brake light that you need to get fixed before someone hits the rear of your car as they would not know when to stop. The cops may also pull you over and charge you a fine. 

  • Automatic Gearbox                                                                                              

This light means that your automatic transmission is not working properly and you need to visit the mechanic to get it fixed. 

  • Anti-Lock Brake System                                                                                      

This shows that there are problems with your car’s braking system to get it checked instantly before you get into a major accident.
